In the Assembly Hall at St Patricks School on Monday 20th February the boys gathered around and were told about Lets Move. The story was that a few years ago The Rotary Club asked the question – why was it that some Castlebar boys were not very fit and healthy? And when they made enquiries they found that, for some, it was because those boys were eating the wrong food, drinking fizzy drinks and not taking enough exercise every day. Thats why they were not as good at things as that they would like to be.
But, you know another thing they discovered? They found out that some boys were spending far too much time watching tv and playing video games. It seems they just didnt know what was best for them or- maybe they forgot. So, the people in the Rotary Club decided that they would offer to do something about it. They spoke to Mr McHale one day and discovered that he also knew about this and, thanks to Mr McHale, Rotary and St Patrickâs got together to make a plan so that all the boys at the school would be helped to be healthy. The Letâs Move Diary is part of the plan.
On Monday Mr Mc Hale said to everyone in the Assembly Hall how good it was and Mr Armstrong told the boys how important it was for everyone to complete their entries every day and then he said thank you to everyone who helped make it success. James Horan, Mayo Senior Team Manager raised the Lets Move Flag at the school. He too praised the Diary and said that it was great for the boys. Members of the Mayo team also kept a diary, he said, so he was speaking from experience. He said âkeep your diary everyday boys, then, you will remember all the things that are best for you and maybe win an award for your class during Healthy Eating Week.â.
