Castlebar Rotary would like to wish our fellow member Paul Kilcourse the very best of luck as he takes on a special charity golf and cycle challenge in memory of his late father, Michael Kilcourse who passed away on fathers day 15th June 2025.

Paul is undertaking a challenge with a difference to raise much needed funds for the Community First Responders and the Order of Malta (Castlebar).

Michael, who loved both cycling and golf, sadly passed away while taking part in a charity cycle. In his memory, Paul is undertaking an inspiring challenge that combines two of Michael’s great passions.

Paul will cycle 256 km around Mayo, stopping at 10 golf clubs along the way, where he will drive a ball from the first tee at each club. The challenge will raise funds for Community First Responders and the Order of Malta, two organisations that provide vital support and emergency care in our communities.

This is a very special and meaningful way to honour Michael’s memory, while also supporting services that make a real difference to people across Mayo.

Paul will start at sunrise at Carne golf club, then catches a ride on a plane to Achill, then hop back on his bike and cycle to the next 8 golf courses and hopes to finish around 9pm!

Castlebar Rotary is proud to support Paul in this wonderful fundraising effort. We wish him every success with the challenge and encourage anyone who can to support or share the fundraiser.

Well done Paul — a fitting tribute to your Dad and a wonderful way to support two very worthy local causes.
