This prestigious event, now in its 69th year, is one of the highlights of the global Rotary calendar. Held across five legendary courses—including the world-renowned Old Course—the tournament brings together Rotarians from across the globe for a week of fellowship, competition and shared passion for golf.

Our club’s golfers represented Castlebar with pride and precision. The star of the show was none other than Club President John Mulroy, who successfully defended his title to become champion two years in a row—a remarkable achievement and a testament to his skill and consistency under pressure.

Not far behind was Finian Joyce, who battled his way to a superb 6th place finish, with Adrian Gavin in 10th position, showcasing the depth of talent in our club and continuing the tradition of strong performances in this competition.

Our ladies were also in flying form with Cora Mulroy and Mary Gavin emerged victorious in the two women’s competitions, earning complimentary rounds on the Old Course—a rare and cherished opportunity that capped off an already memorable week.

Beyond the competition, the week was a celebration of Rotary friendship. From the opening pipe-band welcome and drinks reception to the fellowship foursomes and final prizegiving events, Castlebar members were delighted to connect once again with fellow Irish Rotarians from Letterkenny and beyond.

Congratulations to all involved, and thank you for flying the Castlebar flag with such distinction on the international stage.
