Rotary Club of Castlebar Celebrates Youth Leadership Success: Congratulations to Andrew Doherty!

The Rotary Club of Castlebar is proud to announce that Andrew Doherty has been named the club’s Youth Leadership Student for 2024 and will travel to Strazbourg. Andrew’s success in the prestigious Rotary Ireland Youth Leadership Development Competition highlights his  enthusiasm and his bright potential as a leader of the future.

This Rotary Youth Leadership Competition has been running for over 25 years. It offers young leaders the chance to grow, learn, and gain insights into leadership and democracy on a European scale.

As part of his prize, Andrew will travel to Strasbourg in January 2025 to represent Rotary Castlebar at Euroscola. There, he will step into the shoes of a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for a day, joining students from across Europe in a unique hands-on experience of parliamentary democracy.

This year, Castlebar Rotary hosted one of the national Youth Leadership Regional Finals , the club was delighted to welcome the Rotary Club of Salthill (Galway) and the Sligo Rotary Club to Castlebar.

We wish Andrew and the other successful Rotary students the very best on this journey and are confident that Andrew will make the most of this opportunity. He follows in the footsteps of Aine Quigg, our last year’s Youth Leadership Student, who found the experience to be very worthwhile.  We look forward to hearing from Andrew after the trip.

Castlebar Rotary are delighted to continue supporting this programme.
