Press Release: Community Smoke Alarm Awareness Event by Castlebar Rotary Club, Mayo County Fire
Service and EI Electronics

Castlebar, Co. Mayo – On Friday, 24th May, Castlebar Rotary Club, Mayo County Fire Service and EI
Electronics are joining forces to promote the importance of smoke alarms in the community. The event
will be held from 09:00 to 15:00 in the car park at Tescos/Dunnes, Castlebar. This joint venture aims to
raise awareness about fire safety and encourage the use of smoke alarms in every home.
EI Electronics, the leading manufacturer of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, will also be present
with their mobile display unit. This provides a unique opportunity for the public to learn about the latest
technology in smoke detection and receive technical advice from industry experts.
During the event, the public will be able to:
- See live demonstrations of smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms and their benefits.
- Receive guidance on proper installation and maintenance of smoke and carbon monoxide
alarms. - Learn about the importance of fire safety and early warning systems.
- Engage with members of the Mayo County Fire Service, Castlebar Rotary Club and EI Electronics.
- Get answers to any questions you may have about the installation and care of smoke and
carbon monoxide alarms.
“Our goal is to ensure that every home in Mayo is equipped with functioning smoke alarms,” said Finian
Joyce, President of Castlebar Rotary Club and Ex Chief Fire Officer of Leitrim Fire Service. “This event will
help educate the community about fire safety and demonstrate how simple steps can save lives.”
Aileen O’Connell, Mayo County Fire Service Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer added that “This event is
open to the public, and everyone is encouraged to attend. There will be opportunities to ask questions,
participate in demonstrations, and receive advice on fire safety”.
