Free Blood Pressure Checks in CastlebarThe Rotary Club of Castlebar in conjunction with the Cardiology Dept of Mayo General Hospital will be providing free Blood Pressure checks in Dunne’s Stores Car Park on Saturday 7th June.

Stroke Awareness day was very successful as always.  This year Mayo Ambulance Service participated by testing individuals for blood pressure in an ambulance.  It looked very impressive to see the ambulance on site along with the usual mobile home.

Much thanks goes to the nurses, who gave up their Saturday and spent up to five hours in a small mobile home giving advice and taking numerous blood pressure checks .  Thanks also to Finnonula Lavin and John Horkan for organising the event.

The medical volunteers commented that the event was very worthwhile and offered their services for Stroke Awareness again next year.

Thanks also to the Mayo News, Connaught Telegraph and Mayo Echo for making the public aware of the event.
